Beeclip privacy policy

How we use your personal information

Beeclip is committed to protecting your privacy when you visit www.beeclip.com (the "Beeclip Website") or use its services such as the Beeclipper tool ("Beeclip Services"). This Privacy Policy, which forms part of the Beeclip Terms of Service, sets out the basis on which We collect and use your personal information. This means any information about You which is personally identifiable such as Your name, address, telephone number or email address and is generally referred to throughout this policy as "Your Information". In summary, we do not share Your Information with third parties without your consent, but we do use Your Information to provide you with better, more relevant content, advertisements and communications and services on the Beeclip Website.

For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998, the data controller is Beeclip Limited of 90 High Holborn, London, WC1V 6XX ("We"/"Our"/"Us").

Please note that this Privacy Policy applies only to the Beeclip Website and Services and not to any third party sites that are linked to from this site. The operators of other sites may collect different kinds of information about you, and may use and disclose that information in different ways than we would, so We encourage you to review their privacy policies and remind you that We will not be responsible for their actions.

 

1. What information do We collect about you?

We may collect and process the following data about You:

  • information that you provide by registering with the Beeclip Website, subscribing to Our Services, posting material or requesting further services, such as your name, email address, date of birth and certain demographic details (such as gender and geographic location). We may also ask you for information when you enter a competition or promotion sponsored by Beeclip, and when you report a problem with Our site;
  • details of your visits to the Beeclip Website including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs and other communication data, whether this is required for Our own billing purposes or otherwise and the resources that you access;
  • if you contact us, We may keep a record of that correspondence; and
  • we may also ask you to complete surveys that We use for research or feedback purposes, although you do not have to respond to them.

Please note that nowhere on the Beeclip Website do We knowingly collect contact information or financial information from children under the age of 16. If you are under 16, please do not provide any information to Us or use the Beeclip Website.

If you choose to connect your Beeclip account with another social networking site, such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter etc, currently only Your full name and profile image will be shared with us. You can choose whether to use Your full name from such sites on Beeclip when registering. You can also choose to synchronise Your profiles on Beeclip and such other social networking sites. Any profile updates will then automatically apply to both sites.

2. How will We use Your Information?

We will use Your Information in the following ways:

  • to manage your Beeclip account so that you can benefit from the full range of interactive features of the Beeclip Website;
  • to ensure that content from the Beeclip Website is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer by personalising your repeat visits;
  • to notify you about changes to the Beeclip Website and update you on any new services and benefits;
  • to carry out Our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us;
  • to provide service and support;
  • to prevent and detect fraud or other malicious activity;
  • to contact you by electronic means with information, products or services that you request from Us or which We feel may interest you, but only where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes; and
  • to allow carefully selected third parties to contact with you by electronic means with information, products or services that may interest you, but only where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes.

If you change your mind or do not want Us to use your data in this way, or to pass your details on to third parties for marketing purposes, please update your marketing preferences by visiting the ‘Your Profile’ section of your account or by contacting Us.

We do not otherwise disclose information about identifiable individuals to Our advertisers, but We may provide them with aggregate information about Our users (for example, we may inform them that 200 Beeclip users under 30 have clicked on their advertisement on a given day). We may also use such aggregate 2 information to help advertisers reach the kind of audience they want to target (for example, women between 25 and 35 in Manchester). We may make use of Your Information to enable Us to comply with Our advertisers' wishes by displaying their advertisement to that target audience.

3. Cookies and IP addresses

We may collect information about your computer, including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration and to report aggregate information to Our advertisers. This is statistical data about Our users' browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual.

For the same reason, We may obtain information about your general internet usage by using a cookie file which is a text file stored on the hard drive of your computer to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer's hard drive. They help Us to improve the Beeclip Website and to deliver a better and more personalised service. They enable Us:

  • to estimate Our audience size and usage patterns;
  • to store information about your preferences and visits to Beeclip (which may include your responses to content, advertisements and product offerings provided to you), and so allow Us to customise the Beeclip Website according to your individual interests;
  • to speed up your searches; and
  • to recognise you when you return to the Beeclip Website.

You may refuse to accept cookies by activating the setting on your browser which allows you to refuse the setting of cookies. However, if you select this setting you may be unable to access certain parts of the Beeclip Website. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, Our system will issue cookies when you log on to the site.

4. Will We share Your Information with third parties?

We may disclose Your personal information to third parties:

  • if (as above) you have consented to Us sharing Your Information with carefully selected third parties whose products and services may interest you;
  • if We sell or buy any business or assets, in which case We may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets;
  • if Beeclip or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about its users will be one of the transferred assets; and
  • if We are under a duty to disclose or share Your Information in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply Our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Beeclip, Our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.

5. Will We transfer your information overseas?

The information that We collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area ("EEA"). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for Us or for one of Our suppliers. Such staff help Us operate Our business and may be engaged in, among other things, the provision of hosting and support services. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

6. How do We protect Your Information?

  • All Your Information is stored on Our secure servers. Where We have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of Our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.
  • Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although We will do Our best to protect your personal data, We cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to the Beeclip Website; any transmission is at your own risk. Once We have received Your Information, We will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

7. What else can you do to protect yourself?

  • You can customise your account settings at any time by visiting ‘Your Profile’.
  • You can also control which of your scrapbooks others can see. You can do this by clicking ‘edit’ next to any of Your scrapbooks on the ‘Your scrapbooks’ page. When You create a scrapbook, its default setting will be public, which means it can be viewed and shared by anyone. Your scrapbook, username, associated image and description (but never Your name or contact details) will be displayed 4 anywhere on the Beeclip Website that links to your scrapbook and will be viewable by the public. You may choose to make a scrapbook private (so that only You may view and share it), or partially private (so that it is only viewable by You and by specific Beeclip users selected by You). Or, you may set your scrapbook so that it may not only be viewed but edited by the public.
  • The privacy setting of clips is determined by the scrapbooks that they appear on. If you place a clip on a public scrapbook (the default position for all scrapbooks), it becomes publicly viewable on the "Your Clips" page, and can be found through a Beeclip search. Before adding clips to a public scrapbook, please be sure that you are happy sharing all the clips on that scrapbook with everyone. You cannot reset an individual clip from public back to private, so if You don't want others to see it, You'll need to remove it from the public scrapbook (by deleting it from the 'Your Clips' page) and upload it onto a private scrapbook.
  • You'll see in Our Terms of Service that you must have permission to upload any content onto the Beeclip Website. If you wish to upload any photographs, videos or images of other individuals, you MUST ensure that you've obtained the consent of that individual for their image to be used in this way. Please do not upload any images of children (under 16) unless you have obtained the specific consent of a parent or legal guardian.

8. Access to Your information, correction and unsubscribing

  • You have the right to request a copy of the information that We hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of the information We hold about you, please contact Us.
  • We want to make sure that Your Information is accurate and up-to-date. You should update your personal details via your account from time to make sure it remains accurate. You can also ask Us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate by contacting us.
  • When you unsubscribe from the Beeclip Website and close your account, or your account is closed by Us for any reason, Your scrapbook and User Submissions may remain on the Beeclip Website - please contact Us if You would like to request its removal. Any cookies we place on your computer expire 12 months after your last visit.
